Anniversary book NGV: 400 year Violin Making in the Netherlands

Up to 1999 only two books on Dutch violin making had been published: De Hollandse vioolmakers, by Dirk. J. Balfoort, published in 1931 by H.J. Paris in Amsterdam, and The Violinmakers of the low countries (Belgium and Holland), written and published in English in 1955 by Max Möller in Amsterdam.

After these publications many new facts were uncovered, reason for the Dutch violinmakers to want to publish a new work on Dutch violinmaking. The 50th anniversary of the Dutch Group of Violin- and Bowmakers (founded in 1949) was the perfect occasion to make this wish come true.
